Mary Buchanan (1876-1958)

Sculptor, born in Glasgow who studied at Paisley School of Art and Glasgow School of Art. In 1911 she travelled to Paris to further her studies, exhibiting that year at the French Salon and the following year she showed at the Salon des Artistes Francais. She returned from the Continent to live in Chipstead, Surrey in the mid-1920’s and she continued to show at the RSA, RA, GI and SWA. Examples of her work are represented in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, Paisley Art Gallery and the City of Edinburgh Art Collection.
